ISO 10012:2003 MEASUREMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
WHAT IS ISO
10012:2003 MEASUREMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM?
ISO 10012:2003 outlines basic standards and offers advice on how to oversee measurement processes and verify
the accuracy of instruments used to back up and
prove adherence to measurement standards. It details the quality control needs of a system for managing measurements within an organization that conducts measurements as part of its overall
management framework, ensuring
these standards are upheld.
This standard is not meant to serve as a
standalone proof of compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or any other
specific standard. Parties
interested can choose to incorporate ISO
10012:2003 into their processes to fulfill the requirements of a measurement management system
during certification processes.
There are other standards and resources available for specific
aspects that influence measurement
outcomes, such as the specifics of measurement techniques, the skills of
personnel, and the conduct of interlaboratory
comparisons.
ISO 10012:2003 should not be seen
as a replacement for, or an
extra to, the standards set by ISO/IEC 17025.
1. Better
Precision in Measurements
Makes sure
that all tools for measuring and
the methods used to maintain
them are properly set up and looked after, resulting in results that are more trustworthy and precise.
2. Higher Uniformity and Quality Assurance
Makes the
way measurements are done across
the company more uniform, reducing differences and mistakes, which helps keep the quality of products consistent.
